What is PD Circuits?

PD Circuits is a high intensity exercise class for people with mild to moderate Parkinson’s Disease based on PD Warrior™.

  • It runs on Mondays 5.30-6.30pm at the WAC Arts, Old Town Hall in Belsize Park.
  • The programme runs for 6 weeks and is booked in advance.
  • All classes are led by a neuro physiotherapist from North London Neuro Physio.
  • There will be a maximum of 10 people in the class.
  • The cost is £120 per 6 week programme (£20 per class).

Why are we running these classes?

Health benefit:
Parkinson’s UK recommends exercise for people with both mild and progressing symptoms. The aim is to promote strength, balance, posture and flexibility as well as helping sleep, tiredness, mood and mental health.

Effortful vigorous whole body exercise is particularly recommended at this stage and often not addressed in more traditional strength and fitness programmes. PD Circuits aims to address this need.

Positive feedback:
We received very positive feedback from our first PD Circuits programme in November / December 2019 so we want to continue.

People particularly enjoyed working in a group and found it “more motivating” and a “communal and cheerful environment”. Access to a qualified specialist physiotherapist made a difference where “particular difficulties are understood and not judged” as well as “knowing the correct way to do an exercise”. Everyone felt motivated to exercise outside the group.

“This is a learning experience for all of us, a strategy to cope better by whatever means”.

Parkinson’s UK endorsement
Parkinson's UK have stated that they are happy to both endorse and promote our classes.

PD Zoom

A twice weekly online class for people with mild to moderate PD.

Mondays and Thursdays 3.30-4pm
£25 monthly fee (enables you to join all classes throughout the month).

Whilst we have been unable to run our usual  PD Circuits class in Belsize Park, we have been delighted by the success of our online PD Zoom classes. These were run by Jo Tuckey and Helle Sampson for 10 weeks during lockdown.

We therefore plan to continue these online classes at least until our PD Circuits group resumes.

Please contact us for further information.
